Hi Gracious Gang,
I hope you all are having an amazing day!
By now, you all must know that I live in Delhi and people who live in megacities are generally alienated from the natural environment that mother Earth has bestowed upon us. This leads to many health issues. And this topic has been raised by many people time and again. It is not largely the absence of nature that makes us sick but it’s actually how we go against the norms of nature. For example, merely sitting at home or in a concrete building is not something that is inversely affecting my health, but sitting in a closed glass chamber, a centrally air-conditioned room almost for a full day is something that is degrading my health from within.
Apart from the health issues we face, there are certain skin problems that bother us. This may be acne breakout, pigmentation, dehydrated skin, etc and all these make our skin looks dull and pale. Who doesn’t want glowing skin?? So today, I thought of sharing with you some of the things I do to keep my skin hydrated and to some extent, restore the damage that has been done. These are some of the things that I do. Every person’s skin behaves differently with different products so if you want to follow these, please do a patch test wherever you possibly can.
1. HONEY AND LEMON !!
We all know the importance of water in our lives and honestly, there is no need to explain it. So I will tell you a different version of this story of drinking water. Every morning, I drink around 400-500 ML of warm water with a tablespoon of honey. Apart from boosting your energy, improving the digestive system and helping in weight loss, it actually makes your skin looks clearer. It has antibacterial properties and when mixed with lemon juice, the mixture purifies the blood. For some reason, I just like taking just honey water, you can add half a lemon juice to it.
I also apply honey and lemon mixture on my skin for that glow. Honey moisturizes the skin and lemon is rich in Vitamin C, so it treats pigmentation and darkness of the skin.
2. COCONUT OIL !!
Both the intake and application of coconut oil is a boon to mankind. My skin actually gets very dry during winters and as a part of the night routine, I apply the required amount of coconut oil on my face. Your skin will soak in the oil after some time and it will be moisturized from within, giving you the dewy skin and highlighter-like effect eventually. Trust me, this is the best solution I have found out for winters and my skin is so accustomed to it by now.
3. ORANGE PEEL POWDER !!
Just like lemon, orange is rich in Vitamin C and the orange peel has a higher concentration of vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients than the orange itself. It lightens the pigmentation, unclogs skin pores, removes scars, treats acne and gives your skin a glowy and healthy look. To make the powder of orange peel, you just have to dry the orange skin under the sun for 2-3 days, grind it and make it into powder form. You can store this in a glass container for good 4-6 months. To make a face pack, you can mix 1 tablespoon of this powder in the required amount of milk and add a pinch of turmeric, apply for 15 minutes or till the time you can bear the tingling sensation and then wash away. You can do this 3 times a week. Again very effective on the skin.
4. BESAN UBTAN !!
A very popular method in India to remove all the tanning. All I do is, mix 1 tablespoon of Besan or Gram flour in milk and add a pinch of turmeric and half a lemon juice. The pack should be of medium consistency. Apply it on your face, leave it for 15-20 minutes and then gently scrub and remove it from your face. You can repeat it for about 2-3 times a week.
5. CUCUMBER WATER ICE CUBES !!
I have found out about my summer night care routine. Grate the cucumber and extract all the water from it. Now transfer it into the ice trays and let it be in the freezer for a few hours. Now, before going to bed, take a cube and apply it on your face. It will help ease redness on your face, makes your skin look smooth, helps to improve the blood circulation and prevents wrinkles. Nothing better than this during summers.
6. WATER !!
I don’t think that I need to explain the importance of drinking water for the skin. Just keep yourself hydrated, drink as much water as you can and you will see the results. Please ignore my not-at-all edited grumpy pic you see below.
This is it for this post guys. You see how these simple cost-effective methods can actually help you in improving your skin quality. Do try some of these.
I pray to the Almighty that everyone gets what he/she deserves. So bye until next time !! Adios Amigos, Signing off !!
